The Dangerous Health Effects of Steroids - Educational Video PSA

The public domain public service announcement video: “Squeezing Out the Juice: Tackling the Steroid Issue”. Winning is everything to some athletes, and they’ll do anything they can to make it happen, even take illegal drugs. Steroids have become a hot topic recently, from professional athletes down to little kids in recreational leagues. Congress has tackled the issue and many athletes and others are clamoring for more of a response. During this hour-long broadcast, learn about the health effects of steroids and hear how the pressure to win influences choices people make. See what the DEA, legislators, sports leagues, and schools are doing about performance-enhancing drugs. Some local coalitions are forming steroids task forces in their areas. Find out how their experience can help you and your local coalition spread the word. Learning Objectives: Learn who is using steroids and why; Learn about the dangerous health effects steroids cause; Hear how two programs targeted to high school athletes teaches them about the dangers of steroids and how you can get involved; Find out what one coalition is doing about the problem in their area; Anabolic steroid abuse has been associated with a wide range of adverse side effects ranging from some that are physically unattractive, such as acne and breast development in men, to others that are life threatening. Most of the effects are reversible if the abuser stops taking the drug, but some can be permanent. In addition to the physical effects, anabolic steroids can also cause increased irritability and aggression. Some of the health consequences that can occur in both males and females include liver cancer, heart attacks, and elevated cholesterol levels. In addition to this, steroid use among adolescents may prematurely stop the lengthening of bones resulting in stunted growth. People who inject steroids also run the risk of contracting or transmitting hepatitis or HIV. Some steroid abusers experience withdrawal symptoms when they stop taking the drug. These withdrawal symptoms include mood swings, fatigue, restlessness, loss of appetite, insomnia, reduced sex drive, and depression. This depression can lead to suicide attempts, and if left untreated, can persist for a year or more after the abuser stops taking the drugs. Primary target audiences for this program will include law enforcement officials, drug prevention specialists, Drug-Free Communities Act grantees, administrators, school drug counselors, high school athletic officials, treatment providers, drug court members, policy makers, business leaders, coalition volunteers, drug demand reduction coordinators, criminal justice professionals, members of the religious community and other community partners who may be interested. This program is also suitable for Public Access television distribution. Sponsored by Multijurisdictional Counterdrug Task Force Training (MCTFT) as a public service announcement; public domain. This program is made possible through a partnership with the Multijurisdictional Counterdrug Task Force Training (MCTFT) Program at St. Petersburg College and the Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America (CADCA), with the technical support of the Satellite Education Network (SEN) at Ft. I taught high school once. I could always tell which boys used steroids.
Look a their legs. If they’ve super-pumped chests and biceps, but their legs are like spindles, they’re juicing up. Steroid addicts often become incredibly vane, and when they look in the mirror they only look at the upper half, and that’s where they put all their effort.

The reason high school athletes use steroids is that schools have sports for the wrong reasons. Instead of using sports for fitness, recreation, and building confidence, they think sports are a way towards a high-paid career. That’s the mistake.
If you make the teenager think he has to WIN above all else, he’s going to consider steroids.

chrismcfarlane, you apparently do not have experience with the side effects. They are not like having a slight cold. The risks far outweigh the rewards — and the rewards do not last long. Clean bodybuilding is ethical — abusing your body with steroids is not ethical.

and how long did your friends do their research on these compounds? did they even use proper pct? or did they even know what pct means? proper useage of these drugs will rarely cause physical or mental defects. for example in a scientific study, only 5% of steroid abuses reported increased aggresition, and how much of that 5 percent was a major increase in aggresion? im guessing not much judging by the figures

lol, healthier gains by a bit, but with proper research and preparation you will get minimal side effects from a roid cycle, therfore it wont be harmfull to your body. and you WILL see better gains with roids with proper workout and diet

lol you idiot, no one uses these drugs to destroy a life

hey, man. i agree cycling gives time for the body to fight off side effects, but, if you do that, with proper pct, that is EXACTLY what your doing, fighting off side effects. minimal side effects = minimum risk. the sides CAN be harmfull, but with proper research and preparation these sides wont happen to you. i do respect clean bodybuilders, but i have more respect for the ‘unclean’. a wise bber once told me natural = lower doses in the off season. tests are easy to beat, that makes sense

    steroids are for weak people

tund3, the reason people cycle is to allow the body time to heal from all the bad side effects of steroids. The fact that you have to cycle in the first place should tell you something — the side effects of steroids are very harmful. Be wise — use clean bodybuilding.

funny thing is the side effects listed in this video are of steroid ABUSE, not steroid use. Someone using steroids properly with a correct pct won’t have any of those side effects and can go on living a normal healthy lifestyle. The problem is, instead of educating on pct, these programs just bash steroids, so many of the people using it dont even know about pct, correct cycle doses and how to use it safely. Luckily we have the internet
