If something is “identical” it has the exact same properties. Identical twins are identical.

If something is “similar” is has some of the same qualities but not all of the same qualities. Wolves are similar to domestic dogs.

Muscularly, drugs are literally shaped like natural chemical in the body so they will fit into the the receptor sites intended for that natural chemical or the drugs atomic binding properties are same as the natural substance even though the molecule is different.

What is the definition (with words) of:
    -Medicine
    -drug
    -Poison/toxin

You have taken a molecule as an example and you said it is “similar” to serotonine
    but it is “not”.

What do you mean by “similar to”?
and How can it be biologically “similar to” and in the same time “not”?

If it is “similar” then it has the same chemical properties,
so which properties are not the same?

Didn’t say anything about regulation in this video. I personally lean in the direction of legalizing drugs actually. I just think people should make informed decisions.

I personally am drug free, do not drink, do not even consume caffeine and have not taken any illegal drugs in over 20 years. That’s my choice. I don’t condemn people that drink coffee, alcohol or smoke pot, that’s their choice.

Not sure I like the angle of this video. BY the logic displayed in this vid, sounds like these people would like us all to be even more regulated. Would you like caffeine to be classified as a ‘bug poison’ and thus outlawed for consumption? I think people really need to stay out of other peoples’ business when it comes to what they eat, drink or smoke. GOvernment as well. Getting old and getting damn irritating.

good to know about the homeostasis/balance disruption caused by drugs. i was unaware of this until now.

  6. Anonymous Says:

    The video explained this already.

Any non-nutritional substance which interacts with the body and interrupt it’s normal functioning is a drug.

  7. Anonymous Says:

Caffeine is not a food. It’s actually a bug poison. Your body is not required to ingest caffeine for normal functioning and in fact ingesting caffeine alters normal functioning.

Foods are things with nutritional properties.

Some “foods” contain drugs naturally and other drugs are artificially put in them by the food industry, but the drug substance is not in itself food.

  8. Anonymous Says:

So because Caffein is a drug your saying that everyother biproduct except Vitamins, minerals, fats, sugars, protein is a drug.

  9. Anonymous Says:

    caffein is in natural foods

switching to the tie dyed background to talk about LSD was hilarious :D Psychetruth did it for the lulz!

  11. Anonymous Says:

irrelevant is not a word! - “puff, puff, pass”

  12. Anonymous Says:

Yes i suppose so, but this is just the scientific way. its generally safe to assume that “drugs” are the illegal ones, and alcohol and nichotine is exluded..my point being that alcohol and cigarettes are much more deadly than certain drugs which are illegal, and its not fair :)

  13. Anonymous Says:

Yes THC is a far less toxic than many other drugs but it does alter the normal functioning of the body which makes it a drug. If that were not true, you wouldn’t bother to smoke it.

  14. Anonymous Says:

LOL, alcohol and cigarettes (nicotine) are drugs. So are the majority of medications both prescription and over-the-counter.

  15. Anonymous Says:

And christ!! Drugs ALONE do NOT cause more deaths than alcohol and cigarettes, i though this was a well known fact? apparently not!!

  16. Anonymous Says:

y’all believe this stuff? this seems to be a governemnt bs speech… its all very disorrienting! She says as a FACT that taking too much of a drug WILL kill you… true, HOWEVER technically, its is physically impossible to to take a deadly overdose of marijuana, you would passout before being able to stuff your face with too much..and this other drug, you have to ingest three times your own bodyweight of in order to die, in a small amount of time = IMPOSSIBLE!

  17. Anonymous Says:

If you take seretonin while smoking pot, or anything that releases dopamine, it opens your dopamine receptors 4 times larger than usual.

  18. Anonymous Says:

People today think that if they have a headache, they think are experiencing an Aspirin defency !
Pharmacutical companies spend more money on lobbyist than any other company. If their pills were something, that we needed or were good for you, they wouldnt need to lobby for these things.

  19. Anonymous Says:

And also against the whole marijuana argument; okay, it may be less harmful than most other drugs etc… But I can’t get my head around its usage because it’s just so damn boring.

  20. Anonymous Says:

Hey great video Natalie. I’m planning on making a series going through the thruth about drugs and currently doing as much research as possible and this was one of the most helpful videos i have found.
One of the things I hate is how governments go about drug education, being mainly scare tactics and saying as little as possible.
I believe that is the wrong way to go about it, people need as much information (from both sides) because scare tactics just increase curiousity.
